Be a Pinup Doll in 5 Easy Steps

Nothing is sexier than the pinup doll look, which invites an allurance of being sultry and endearingly innocent at the same time. Find out how you can be a pinup doll in five quick steps, and feel like an edgy rockabilly girl doing it.
Start with the shoes

Any pinup girl knows that the outfit revolves around the shoes, and the shinier and more glam, the better. Think 50's and 60's classics, and go with deep siren red or daringly black.Look for shoes with bows or the classic mary jane buckle. Modern pinup girl shoes feature the retro look, but have a hidden platform, which will add to your height. Bonus points if you pair the shoes with black fishnet (torn optional) and a garter belt to hold them in place. Choose a pair of shoes you can rock with a dress, corset and a pair of jeans.

The Classic Corset

It takes a woman who is willing to bare it all to don a corset and look lavishing doing so. Boost up the girls and tighten that corset as tight as you can stand it while still breathing. The more hourglass shape you can make out of your waist, the better, and make sure that your breasts are on proper display. With cleavage like this, you don't need any jewels or adornment to make yourself known--so skip the diamonds doll.
It's all about curls and volume

                                                                      victory rolls pinup hair

When you think of a pinup girl, you think of wavy bangs and sideswept, natural hair. Adopt this seemingly innocent image and leave your hair down and swept in lazy, seductive curls that sweep away from the face. Practice victory rolls--and make sure to have plentyh of bobby pins handy.
Why are you pouting?

Let's face it, a pinup girl look isn't complete without the full, blood red pout. Lip liner is optional on this one, since the goal is to look vintage and retro, not 'lady of the night'. Just like the shoes, the shinier and glossier the coat you can get on your lips, the better, in hues of deep reds to rustic orange for that classic and pouty look. Score extra points if you bite your lower lip now and then.
It starts at the shoes, ends at the eyes.
Line your eyebrows in the deepest color you can while still appearing natural, arch them in sweet surprise, and break out the false eyelashes. The goal of a pinup corset girl is to look as Bambi-esque as possible, so pile on the eyeliner and mascara, while leaving the shadow to a minumum to pull of this look best.Experiment with the retro cat eye for the perfect touch of rockabilly girl look.

I hear ya. I also have a hard time finding a red lipstick that works. I have heard something about reds being either orange based or blue based. Anyone know if there is any truth to this and what the difference is?

For the lipstick I love the Dita Von Teese Viva Glam red lipstick by MAC. And the hair, you can always get extensions for more volume.

I have 2 issues with the pin up look. 1. I have a hard time finding the right red color for my lips…any suggestions? And 2. I have thin, fine hair so I have a hard time putting it up in hot rollers to get the volume for victory rolls…any suggestions on that as well? I love the pin up look and would love to sport it on a daily basis, but with these issues it is hard for me to pull off everyday.
